またしても七難八苦(というほどではないが)の末に、無事にThinkPad R30でUbuntuが使えるようになった。
安定性ということで、LTSである8.04.2をインストールした。
無線LANの設定
ThinkPad R30には、PCIのGW-US54Miniを手持ちから流用した。
これにはzd1211のドライバが適用できるのだが、ラッキーなことにUbuntu8.04.2は何もしなくても、このUSB WiFiアダプタを認識してくれるのだ。
このため、いろいろ調べた挙句ではあったが、何もせずに無線LANが使えるようになった。
モニタの設定
所々の事情により、Tridentのドライバがちゃんと認識されないようで、VESAドライバ、しかも800x600の精細度しか、デフォルトでは動作しない。

を追加すれば、動作する。
